JACKALS ADD ANOTHER KEY PLAYER FROM 2009 SEASON

Little Falls, NJ – The New Jersey Jackals have announced the signing of infielder Mike DeJesus for the 2010 season.

DeJesus was one of the most consistent Jackal in the 2009 season. Playing in all but two games, DeJesus had a .297 batting average with 14 doubles, five home runs and 66 RBI. With an on base percentage of .378, DeJesus was always a threat to score last season. His 46 walks were good for 5th in the Can-Am League.

“We’re extremely excited to have Mike back for the 2010 season.” Commented manager Joe Calfapietra. “Mike was very consistent and was a part of the Jackals backbone last season. We hope to see a similar season in 2010.”

DeJesus, brother of Major League Baseball player David DeJesus, was drafted by the Cincinnati Reds in the 15th round of the 2005 MLB June Amateur Draft. His first professional season was with the Red’s Rookie affiliate Billings Mustangs of the Pioneer League. In 53 games, DeJesus had a .234 batting average with eight doubles. In 2007, DeJesus had his affiliated year with the Sarasota Reds of the Florida State League. In 113 games, DeJesus had a .261 batting average with 12 doubles and four home runs.
